Counselors will be visiting your LA classes beginning the first week of March. It is very important that you follow the steps provided by the counselors. Students may enter course selections into the Academic Plan in Infinite Campus. There is NO advantage to entering them as quick as possible. Be sure to talk with your current/most recent content teachers, counselor and parents/guardians if you have questions about what to take.

Class of 2021 & Beyond: In addition to earning at least 220 credits in coursework, students must also pass a competency-based assessment in English and a competency-based assessment in math. BVSD has adopted the menu of options from the Colorado Department of Education. The available options include achieving minimum scores on national assessments, completing industry certifications, a capstone project, and/or specific performance assessments. It is very important to understand that students can meet these minimum competencies in a combination of measures. In other words, if a student earns the minimum score (or higher) on an assessment (i.e. SAT, ACT, AP or IB) for English but not for math, the student can demonstrate competency in math using a different measure, including another assessment or a performance measure (capstone, industry certificate, performance assessment). More info. One option is to choose SAT since we take that as a class in junior year. If you don't meet the requirement, you may then speak with your counselor to create a new plan.
Important information to keep in mind when completing your course selection

MHS Schedule Change Procedure
SCHEDULE CHANGES
During course selection students should request the courses they would like to take as schedule changes for "change of heart" are not guaranteed after schedules have been made. Students who have concerns about their course choices prior to schedule development (May of the previous school year) should contact their counselor to see if a change request is possible. During the school year in which courses are scheduled course changes are limited to:
CHANGES WILL BE MADE FOR:
*Clean Drops are defined as removing a class from the schedule and the transcript.
**WP is defined as a withdraw pass. This is shown on the transcript but does not affect the grade point average.
**WF is defined as a withdraw fail. This is shown on the transcript but does not affect the grade point average.
***Late Drops will receive a failing grade for the class. This is shown on the transcript and DOES affect the grade point average.
Athletic Eligibility
To maintain athletic eligibility, students must be taking a minimum of 25 credits each semester and cannot fail more than one class. There are additional conditions for athletic eligibility. Please contact the Athletic Director for complete details.
Supplies & Fees
According to Colorado statute, students may be required to bring specific, necessary supplies for their own use in the classroom and to procure supplies and equipment required to carry on the musical, dramatic, athletic, and equivalent programs of the district.
Each year, the Boulder Valley School Board authorizes a list of fees for materials used in certain classrooms. Some of the fees are optional while others are deemed necessary for participation in particular classes. Notice of these fees is given in course descriptions or by the teacher within the first few days of class.
Miscellaneous fees may also be collected to cover the cost of entrance, meals, and lodging for field trips. The cost of particular requested services (such as copies of transcripts, college searches, AP exams, postage, directories, handbooks, newsletters, etc.) may be passed on to the student.
FEES MAY BE WAIVED FOR STUDENTS QUALIFYING FOR FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH. INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE MAIN OFFICE
