Important information about the State SAT for Juniors - April 11, 2017

- The State SAT is at no cost to the student
All Juniors at Monarch will automatically be registered for the the reading test, writing and language test, and math test.
​The essay portion is opitonal.

(CLOSED) ​Students who wish to take the essay portion must change their registration status - see below for details 
between January 27, 2017 – February 12, 2017. (CLOSED)
Students can change their status online by creating a College Board  account or logging into an existing account.
Steps for changing registration status
  1. Choose “My SAT” from the left-hand navigation bar.
  2. Be sure your profile is up to date
  3. Select the April 11 test on the bottom left corner, select “Change  Registration” from the MySAT homepage.
  4. Select “Add the essay to my registrations” from the Change Your Registration page​

​Who Should Take the SAT with Essay
  • You don’t have to take the SAT with Essay, but if you do, you’ll be able to apply to colleges that recommend or require it.
  • Follow this link to a list of essay policy information for U.S. and international colleges, as well as scholarship providers. If you don’t see a college you’re looking for, or if you want to make sure a college’s essay policy hasn’t changed, contact them directly. 
What You'll Do
  • Read a passage.
  • Explain how the author builds an argument to persuade an audience.
  • Support your explanation with evidence from the passage.
What the SAT Essay Measures
  • ​The SAT Essay shows how well you understand the passage and use it as the basis for a well-written, thought-out discussion. ​​ ​
