SAT

ACT

In April all Juniors will take a State SAT at no cost to the student. However, students may also register to take additional SAT and SAT subject tests on National test dates
Register and pay online at collegeboard.org
Students may wish to take the ACT or the ACT with Writing on a National test date. Register and pay online at actstudent.org.

What is the difference between the SAT and the ACT?

The following information is pulled directly from the College Board website
Who Should Take the SAT with Essay
  • You don’t have to take the SAT with Essay, but if you do, you’ll be able to apply to colleges that recommend or require it.
  • Follow this link to a list of essay policy information for U.S. and international colleges, as well as scholarship providers. If you don’t see a college you’re looking for, or if you want to make sure a college’s essay policy hasn’t changed, contact them directly.
What You'll Do
  • Read a passage.
  • Explain how the author builds an argument to persuade an audience.
  • Support your explanation with evidence from the passage.
What the SAT Essay Measures
  • The SAT Essay shows how well you understand the passage and use it as the basis for a well-written, thought-out discussion.
